Promises Kept
Secured Funds for Local Projects:
$1,685,000 for the City of Willamina for erosion remediation of Huddleston Pond at Hampton Park.$195,094 for MV Advancements, which will provide 24 units of supportive housing for individuals with disabilities.$225,000 for homeless community shelters for the City of Sheridan.$580,000 for warehouse renovations and delivery vehicle costs for YCAP.$2,000,000 for Polk County Mental Health Treatment/Crisis Center.
Advocated for Stricter Drug Enforcement: I hosted a local roundtable discussion on Oregon’s addiction crisis to better understand and represent our community's needs. While House Bill 4002 is not the comprehensive solution I had hoped for, it is a step in the right direction. The bill empowers law enforcement to hold drug users accountable and guides them towards treatment, while also beginning to address the issue of public drug use that has been prevalent on our streets.
Housing Oregon’s Workforce: Earlier this year I was able to pass my priority legislation House Bill 4134: Housing Oregon’s Workforce. This allocated funds to rural communities including McMinnville, Amity, Toledo, and Burns. Collectively, these projects will create over 500 new housing units by 2029, all of which will be affordable to households earning 130% or less of the area median income.
